Re: Auto Metal Direct hood from Summit

Six years ago I purchased an all medal hood from LMC. Fit and finish very good. MY body shop said it was the best fitting they had seen.

Re: Auto Metal Direct hood from Summit

Follow-up results for others in need.
I ordered on the afternoon of 12-19 the AMD hood from Summit Racing. $545 plus oversized shipping 220 Fed Ex Freight. Fed ex called me on the 24 to make sure I would be available on 26th. Delivered 12-26 at 1pm at my home. Driver assisted with unboxing to verify no damage.. Well packaged, no issues. The weight and EDP finish was better than expected. They used a mastic in place of the pads between the hood frame and skin. So, Restoration guys be aware. I like the mastic. It does not look out of place and holds everything tight. I placed the hood on the truck for trial fit and it was literally perfect. The most solid well fitting hood I've seen short of the big dollar restos. I was reluctant to buy this hood after all the really poor quality aftermarket parts I have been receiving lately. This was remarkable and exceeded my expectation in every way, fit, finish and material used.
To be clear, Auto Metal Direct jobbers this part based on the packing. It is manufactured by Triplus in Taiwan. It appears Triplus does not sell retail.
800s buck stings some for a hood, but you will save on labor trying to fit a old hood and not have any worry about rust. After all the effort I went through on the previous hood, if you have the cash, this is for sure the way to go.
