Condensers?

Can anyone tell me why there are 3 condensers under the hood of my 69 C10? One attached to the coil, one attached to the points, one attached to the voltage regulator.

Thank you.

Re: Condensers?

radio suppression maybe. Also you can run a condenser on the coil and do away with the one at the points I believe

Re: Condensers?

I know from experience that a bad condenser on the points can cause bad running. Helped a friend chase a poor performance issue. He had installed a new point/condenser set(so it couldn't be that...). After most of a day of wailing and teeth gnashing, he pulled the used condenser off the old points and replaced the new one, MAGIC! It ran great!.

The one on the coil is probably noise suppression.

The one on the voltage regulator is probably to reduce wear on the relay contacts.

There is often one inside the alt for noise suppression.

To prevent radio noise interference.
