Here is wishing for a better 2025 than last year.
We're having the traditional black eyed peas and ham today for luck.

For sure
Yessir. Beans/black eyed peas and ham/hog jawls AND cornbread are the food of choice down here, for sure! We have the Christmas smoked ham bone in the peas and we're having the hog jawls as well. A guy doesn't carry rabbits feet and such so I'll take my good luck means from the foods.

Re: Happy New Years 2025

One son is smoking a tri-tip. We should be having some kind of green vegetation with it. I have a runny nose and watering eyes. Popped a Benadryl, which I hate, but I want it under control. Haven't had any success, yet. No aches, so I'm thinking a cold or allergies.

Tri-Tip is the Tops.

I hope you get to feeling better.

Maybe an Alka-Seltzer.

Re: Happy New Years 2025

Just finished my peas.
Chopped
Green onion
1/2 yellow sweet onion
Red pepper
2 bacon strips
Pablano pepper
Saute in olive oil
Throw in croc pot with chicken stock

Rinse 2 cans balck eyed peas
Throw in pot

Cube
Ham steak
Prim rib slice, because I had it
More prime rib fat
Throw in pot

Devien and slice collard greens
Saute diced garlic clove in olive oil
Add greens, oil and stock
Cook
Throw it in the pot and cover with chicken stock on low

Make corn bread muffins

Serve in bowl with crumbled corn bread on top and a Shinner Bock.

Made 4 servings.

I called a childhood friend in Fla and he said you had to eat 365 peas today to be considered lucky.

Re: Happy New Years 2025

We had Anasazi beans with ham chunks and southwest cornbread night before last. Last night we took the grandkids to see Sonic the Hedgehog 3 so we only snacked. Today we went Bowling and to Golden Corral and I ate like a hog. Happy New Year.
