72 Chevy Truck Window Crank Handle ?

I'm checking with you guys to see what handles available out there have the best 'teeth' inside of them to mesh with the window regulator stub?
I bought a couple last year that have worn out already cause they had minimum material in that critical mesh area, and have eroded out. Soft aluminum.

Any recommendations on a manufacturer that makes these handles heavy duty?

Thanks!

Not sure at all about the re-production handles beings worth the trouble and cost to buy them. Best bet is look for some good original GM window crank handles at swap meets, salvage or pic a part yards if have any local to you. Salvage yards are getting fewer and fewer it seems all across the country. Nothing fits as well as original GM parts, would rather clean and restore a good used part over buying an over seas cheaply made re-pop. Are you wanting nice with bright shiny chrome or more to the functional and usable type? Chevelles, Novas and most all the GM cars used pretty much the same window crank handle during that time period.

NONE of the commonly available reproduction cranks are worth a crap. The best available are NOS GM. They have deep teeth and made with a harder pot metal. They are pricey, but they are the best.

Even the '90's Chevy G van handle 20348200 with 20322800 cast on back is superior to any repro. There are several on Ebay.

Re: 72 Chevy Truck Window Crank Handle ?

In 2016 I bought new ones and put them on the truck, took them off and threw them in the trash immediately. I couldn't even stand the trash can being in the garage, I had to take it out to the street. Made me so mad and I remember having a fit. My originals had the knob that came off. I bought new knobs for the end of the handle, I think it was at Napa, cleaned the handles, installed the knobs, and now they are very good. So, if you're wanting new handles just due to missing knobs, the knobs are available.

I probably have 5/6 of the originals in my parts stash. They shouldn't be hard to find. ,

Re: 72 Chevy Truck Window Crank Handle ?

I bought some from LMC a few months ago that had the wrong splines and didn’t fit at all
They refunded my $ and said not to send them back.

Re: 72 Chevy Truck Window Crank Handle ?

I bought the ones that Autozone sells . Been 7 years and they still work fine
https://www.autozone.com/interior/wi...912/721175_0_0

Not sure why they say it doesn’t fit my truck but these are in it right now

Sure that they are all made by same company and sold under different names . Unless your buying custom billet ones

dmjlambert, you say the knob itself is available? I have an old original crank that needs just the knob, that could work. Any chance you have a NAPA part number for that knob?
Thanks!
