Here's the reply I got back from Trique Mfg. Looks promising on what I want to accomplish using power door locks. Going to order up a Altman latch.

The latch kit we make for the 55-59 Chevy Truck has a lock provision on it that you can use with power lock actuators. When locking the door from the outside, you are locking the button in the handle, so that has nothing to do with the latch. As for the inside handle, with our kit you will still be able to open the door using the interior handle, but the door can not be locked by the inside handle.

They offer brackets for the 1947-51 for mounting the locks. I asked about if they had brackets for the 55-59 trucks.

At this time we do not. Usually people will mount the actuators down low in the door under the latch and run the rod up to the lock lever
