1974 GMC worth?
My dad reluctantly wants to sell his truck. Location is outside Pittsburgh, PA. He has no idea how much to ask. What do you all think it's worth?

Price is a very hard thing to determine. It's "what the market will bare". While that truck is in outstand condition it would proably only brink $2500 where I am at. In your area where rust out is more of a problem you could probably get closer to $4k.
I would look in http://www.collectorcartraderonline.com/ in your area and see what they are listing them for. Also check you local papers. Understand most people thing they have gold plated cars and they list them high. Don't expect to get what others have listed but use it as a starting point.

You might try brousing through the trucks for sale on e-bay. When I was looking to buy, I saw a couple of extremely clean trucks go for 5 or 6k. Your dad's truck appears to be pretty darn clean.

Selling
Thanks for your help. It's hard to find anything comparable on eBay or even the car collector site. Here are some more photos requested.
It's really a beautiful and pampered vehicle. He's talking about taking to a local auction. I'm worried that the local market won't be very good for this kind of vehicle. Any opinions? Thanks, Tom... |

DANG! that truck is immaculate, it looks anyway. I'd say if someone got it for less than 4 they got a good deal and you got the lesser end of the deal...i bet it's closer to the 5-6k range.

Thanks for the compliments! They'll make Dad feel good.
I think he'd be very happy with high 6's or low 7's. Is that reasonable? He'd make it available for test drives and inspections. I'm thinking of posting it on eBay to see what interest it generates, but have never sold on eBay before. Does anone have experience and advice with selling a vehicle like this there?
