Re: Sun Tachometer Retrospective

i love these old sun tachs also, but after owing 2 vintage sun super tach ll that only worked erratically, i tried all the gismos and tricks to fix them but finally i gave up,
problem may be because my chevelle and truck both have HEI.
ended up with a $50 bosch mini tach from advance auto that looks retro like the sun tach and works perfectly.

I'm going to make sure the "new" batteries are not dead and after that I'm out of ideas.

Any suggestions?

Fixed it.

I checked the removed batteries and they were still at 1.36 volts.

I cleaned up one of the contacts, which had some corrosion on it, and put them back in with some dielectric grease. I'm back in business.

This September that tach will have been in use for 53 years!

Re: Sun Tachometer Retrospective

After the Crome Small Half Face Sun Instruments also made a Sun Tachometer, mine has the Green Line 0-10k almost a full sweet Sun Tachometer Green Line. The Green Line Sun Tach made first, the the Sun Super Tach Blue Line 0-8k came out near the end of 1967-68 year.
I have the Sun Tach Green Line and the Sun Super Tach Blue Line, then came the Sun Super Tach II Blue Line.
Both mine have been converted to Electronic by Williamson’s Instruments.
The Sun Super Tach Blue Line 0-8k is for sale, it's never been installed, it has the Williamson’s Instruments schematic with all the installation part's.

Re: Sun Tachometer Retrospective

If your selling something, it needs to be posted in the for sale section of the site.
