Update

I have come and gone on this site a few times ,,as some of you know ,,,I still get on ever so often and just look and read posts , I am not dying ,,just slowing down quite a bit from all the things I used to do , Maybe some of you can relate..as there are a few of you still on here at the 80 years old age that I have become .
What brought this posting on was from couple days ago here in Nampa Idaho where the sun has come out full and here I am in the house and not taking my truck out for a spin like I used to at least once a week or more.
Even thought about selling my truck ,,but then I wouldnt have a second vehicle in case I needed one,, and I still once in awhile think of something to add to it that I feel like it needed it.. The last thing I did was wire up my battery with a kill switch and its controlled by a remote on my key chain,, I have always unhooked my battery after driving it,,not sure why exactly ,,just habit I guess..
So , that's about it for a update if any of you were wondering like me when I miss one of you I havent seen for awhile..

Good to hear from you, Larry. I'm kinda in the same boat, truck just sits and hasn't been driven in awhile..... even considered selling it but same as you, I'd be without a backup rig.

Re: Update

Its always good to hear from you. Those of us that have been on the board for a good while are what I think of as actual friends and would probably get along well in real life. Ive met quite a few people in person from the board and that was almost always the vibe.

This message board has changed a lot over the years, as most message boards with this format. Sites like Facebook and Instagram have sort of ravaged message boards with the look at me attitude vs a more of an us as a group attitude for message boards. Yes I know its not 100 percent like that on either. I still visit this site every day, but I dont log in nearly like I used to.

Go out and get ice cream, or something, once a week in your truck Larry. Please don't become a hermit. That's really bad for you.

Re: Update

Hello Larry, it’s good to see you post.
I agree with CG and couldn’t have said it better.
I’m glad that you still think about taking the truck out for a spin even if it’s not as frequent as it used to be.
I’m thinking you know you have plenty of like minded friends here.
Today is a good day.

Re: Update

Hey neighbor. Good to see you checking in as usual.
I'm not all over the board like I used to be either.
About the batteries. I disconnect the battery on my 69 sitting in the shop. I think that one is 6 or 7 yrs old now. Always ready to go.

Re: Update

Everyone's situation is different as we age, I say adapt and overcome with what you can/feel or want to do. Rickysnickers has the right idea, pick an activity to go and do with your truck.
As time and other projects progressed, I really didn't want to sell our 49 Chevy pickup, but we needed the space, so I gifted it to the oldest son. I just saw him at a crab feed last night and he said he rolled it out last week washed it and took a cruise with his two girls for Ice Cream.

That's as good as me driving it.... knowing it's being enjoyed.

Re: Update

Thanks a lot guys for all the nice thoughts and ideas for me getting the truck out of the garage and taking it for a spin . ,, nice bunch of fellas you are to care about another truck owner .
Here is a something I never ever would of thought of being a problem for me driving any of my trucks I have owned on the streets with the stop lights at the many intersections . But,, with this truck I gotta say it is one. It is a stick shift with a clutch that has to be pushed all the way to the foor to engage gears.

And in doing so there is hesitation between second gear to high gear ( dont use compound gear to take off) and with these drivers on our streets these days that are right on ones rear bumper and do not know that going through the gears is not a smooth continuous speed.. I have a 3 speed with a granny gear and I use 2nd gear to take off from stop lights and that helps but still I get the horn some times .. The best part is that I get a lot of thumbs up for the truck from a lot of people too,,so maybe i'm belly aching to much too..

Re: Update

We have those same type drivers that are in a hurry to ride the next bumper here also.

I was going to suggest a Bumper sticker.

But as the Old saying goes, You can't fix It.

The closer they get behind me the slower I go. If all I see in my mirror is grill, when stopped at a light, I instantly turn into an old man, and snail out of the intersection.

Re: Update

Glad to see you checking in. That would be frustrating with the tailgaters+honking. Most people can figure out you're busy getting up to speed. And you don't need to sorry about the ones who can't. Their impatience is their problem. And remember, a truck that gets driven regularly is a much better backup vehicle ; )

Re: Update

I don't post alot either but try to check Gen Dis and 67-72 page every day. Most posts don't interest me so don't respond. Saying like others it's changed like we all have. Seems like the old guard and original members are slowly leaving us kinda sad. To many posts I miss. Glad some 'Ole ones' are still around...
