55 Panhead

I thought I would start a project build thread for my 55 Chev that I acquired this past summer. It is in remarkable condition for its age. It definitely was a dry climate truck as there is no cancer repair that I can find now until I strip it for paint. The gray you see is primer. My plan is to make modifications now to where I can drive and enjoy it this spring and summer than probably blow it apart to paint this fall. Currently it has a 70 chevelle front clip that was installed perfectly. the previous owner cut a coil out to lower it. I have some Aldan coil overs coming to change that. The rear end is a 10 bolt out of a Camaro. He put a gas tank in the rear out of a suburban. Much of the hard work is done to the chassis. I will post more pictures as I go along.

Re: Knucky's 55

I just got a new set of shoes for the 55. I didn't care for the cutlas rims. I am more old school. The tires are Coker BF Goodrich Silvertown P215/75R15 on the front and P235/75R15 in the back. The 235's are the widest I could go without tubbing it. They are mounted on 15x7 Allied Wheel 60 Chrome Smoothy's.

Re: Knucky's 55

I had my local powder coater coat it with ultra chrome powder. It turned out so good I had him do the radiator core support and headlight trim.

Re: Knucky's 55

Been busy on the interior updating the instrument panel with a Dakota Digital panel. I also installed Digital Guard Dawg's keyless start buttonn. Also installed Custom Autosounds radio. Was real disappointed with fit in the hole but what do you expect from stuff from China. Also changed out the steering wheel with a 1955-57 Chevy 15" wheel.

Re: Knucky's 55

As for the engine. It is a mildly built 350. I use to compete in NHRA competition . I competed in super stock and set three NHRA records in my class. He was telling me what he did to the motor and I told him about my drag racing history and I knew exactly what he was talking about. The block is a high nickel four bolt main and the heads had hardened seats installed and stainless steel valves so you can run this cheep unleaded fuel. Has forged pistons, rods, and roller rockers and a good street cam from Comp cams. Not much I need to do in the engine compartment except dress it up with bling.

Re: Knucky's 55

Some things I got coming next week are Aldan coil over shocks for the front. New door hinges to replace the old tired ones. Trique Mfg Altman door latches. Chris at Trique Mfg said they are working on a bracket that will mount to their latch for installing power door locks. So that will be cool.

Drove me crazy with made in China on the box. Paid almost $400 for China made junk.
Lookin good!

Just remember that China is excellent at making things, just as good as the US, IF we are willing to pay for it.

It's Americans who ASK them to make it as cheap as possible, and still charge you an arm and a leg.

Re: Knucky's 55

I didn't mean for this thread to become political so I edited my posts about products made in China.
