QA1 question

Hey everyone. Happy I found this forum. Just picked up a 72 that came with a lot of uninstalled goodies.

It came with a CPP big brake kit and front and rear QA1 coil over kit. Super excited about it.

The one think I’m noticing when looking at the install is it requires 73-87 spindles. And not really getting a good answer from either vendor on it.

Now I may be really over thinking this but figured I’d ask the real pros. The ones who have done it!

I know someone’s ran into this?

I have QA1 front and rear on my truck. What you’re talking about is that the ball joints in the QA A Arms use 73-87 ball joints. I already had 2” drop spindles and wasn’t thrilled about buying a new set. You have 2 options
1) spend the $ on new spindles or 2) Ream your 72 spindles to fit the 73 ball joints. I reamed mine and they work just fine. The other thing you may run into are the tie Rod ends if you go with 73 spindles you will need 73 tie Rod ends if I remember correctly. One other thing is you need to cut a hole for the front shocks to go through. You’ll need a Plazma cutter.
Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me with any questions. To me it was worth the install. I love the ride

Re: QA1 question

I put QA1 on my '67, very pleased with the results.
There should be an adapter that goes from the earlier tie rod to the later model spindles.
Mine uses the 73+ spindles and the 1¼" thick brake discs.
