California cab light question

If I remember correctly there was a period when California mandated that the back of the clearance lights were blacked out. I’m not sure what year this started but I would like to do it on my 79 crew cab that was bought new in Hollywood. Mainly looking for some reference pictures on how they terminated the black. Any info or pictures would be great. Thanks!

Re: California cab light question

Just in case someone goes down the same rabbit hole I did years from now here are some pictures of the cab lights I was referencing. I found them on another forum.

Re: California cab light question

I do remember that but don't recall any additional details.

I started with GM in 1979 and left the assembly plant to go to the Milford Proving Ground in 1986 so probably somewhere in that timeframe was when they were used.

Thank you you for the reply I have an old set of signal stat lights that I think I’m going to just paint. What year was your truck?
