I would simply keep the mechanicals on the '97 going.

'New' enough to still have EFI technology w/o every freaking thing needing to communicate together (PCM's to BCM's to ECU) in order for the vehicle to even move. It seems there's so much electronic or computer-controlled things that go wrong on 'new' cars that it's just not worth it.

My GF's 2019 Grand Cherokee has no ability to check the trans fluid level. It requires a dealership tech to access the computers. It now suffers from the dreaded hard-shift dilemma they are notorious for (low speed downshifts from 3>2>1 which is the solenoids receiving communication commands from the PCM).
Same vehicle..... Trying to back-up w/a 'temporarily' parked car behind us? Sensors automatically keep the vehicle 'braking' to avoid a collision. Annoying AF.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Joke Thread

Oh I hear ya on all the electricals. A car (some) with a dead battery cannot be removed from Park to push it out of the way. It has an electric lock on the shifter.

Re: Joke Thread

A guy said he was going to go wash his long horn. I naturally assumed he meant his truck. I guess he didn't.
