QA1 question
Hey everyone. Happy I found this forum. Just picked up a 72 that came with a lot of uninstalled goodies.
It came with a CPP big brake kit and front and rear QA1 coil over kit. Super excited about it. The one think I’m noticing when looking at the install is it requires 73-87 spindles. And not really getting a good answer from either vendor on it. Now I may be really over thinking this but figured I’d ask the real pros. The ones who have done it! I know someone’s ran into this? |

Re: QA1 question
Quote:
1) spend the $ on new spindles or 2) Ream your 72 spindles to fit the 73 ball joints. I reamed mine and they work just fine. The other thing you may run into are the tie Rod ends if you go with 73 spindles you will need 73 tie Rod ends if I remember correctly. One other thing is you need to cut a hole for the front shocks to go through. You’ll need a Plazma cutter. Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me with any questions. To me it was worth the install. I love the ride

Re: QA1 question
I put QA1 on my '67, very pleased with the results.
There should be an adapter that goes from the earlier tie rod to the later model spindles. Mine uses the 73+ spindles and the 1¼" thick brake discs.

Re: QA1 question
thank you both for replying I realize I was over thinking this a bit.
I ordered the X10 spindles so I can have the newer hub style for the 73-87 and will be swapping out the tie rod ends to match. can't wait to get this done!!! |

Re: QA1 question
here's a picture of my set-up showing the custom sleeve that connects the tie rod ends from early model to later model knuckles.

Re: QA1 question
Another look at it. I thought I had a pic of the Rear but can’t find it. I’ll post it if I do

Re: QA1 question
Here's a couple more pics with one of the rear set-up. I also added the frame stiffener.
The beauty of the QA1 rear is that there's a lot of adjustment that allows you to dial it in perfectly.
