bench seat frame differances

Has anyone noticed a difference in the seat frames for the different years? i ordered a seat cover from lmc. I chose the one for the 69-70 truck because that is the pattern I wanted. when I got it, I tried putting it on my bench seat from my 72 c20, and it's simply not big enough.

lmc customer service is clueless of course saying that i ordered a cover for a 69-70 and trying to put it on a 71-72 frame, even though the page says this.. has anyone ran into this issue?

Re: bench seat frame differances

They're different, unfortunately. A good upholsterer can help you, or - if it was me - I'd look for a 69-70 seat to put it on.

Re: bench seat frame differances

Here's a thread that shows most of the differences in the frames. Pay no attention to the title at the time I didn't know the truck seat frames were used in Suburbans and just the upholstery was different.

There are also full foam seats. Is yours a full foam seat?

Re: bench seat frame differances

hum, well lmc needs to update their info i think.

I can do some mods to make it work, but I'd rather not.

Re: bench seat frame differances

So I just happen to be in the midst of restoring my bench seat. I have a 1968 C10 and my seat seems to be very different from others I have seen. Stripped, welded as necessary, rust proofed and painted and am recovering. So far I have recovered the seat back...new burlap, foam, and cotton batting. I still have the seat bottom to do. I will post a photo of the covered seat back later.
