CPP drop spindles and the Brake Bracket Kit
1972 C10 LWB
Factory front discs with factory sized rotors (slotted/drilled) Ordered new 2.5" drop spindles from CPP and all the phone calls led me to believe you HAVE to have the bracket kit. So I ordered a kit because I couldn't find any info stating otherwise. Spindles won't be here until this week unfortunately, but the bracket kit arrived today. The bracket kit is freaking huge, lol. I'm fairly certain it's for larger than factory rotors or upgraded brake kits. But, I also figured if I got it all apart and didn't have the bracket and needed it, she'd be sitting on blocks for a week or more. Has anyone needed the brake bracket for factory brakes with CPP 2.5" drop spindles on a 72 C10? |

Re: CPP drop spindles and the Brake Bracket Kit
The newer 'modular' spindles need the brake bracket. The older spindles do not.

Re: CPP drop spindles and the Brake Bracket Kit
I definitely didn't buy the modular ones. I appreciate the response! I'll put some pictures up as it's done to have some more info out there.

Re: CPP drop spindles and the Brake Bracket Kit
No update today for 100% verification.
The lower ball joints is permarustwelded to the spindles. Gave up after 2.5 hours trying to free it. I have new Chopping Block tubular arms coming so I'm going to wait and just remove the control arms entirely and mount all the new stuff up once. Also to make sure all the new LCA/UCA fit the CPP 72 spindles as well. Gotta order new control arm u bolts as well. |
