Well I remembered how to resize. This is still as big as I can get them without them being too big.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime

Thanks DB and Scoti. I personally think that distributor is pretty cute. It for sure will be easier to work on in the future. Oh that means I need spare parts oh chit! That's prolly a $100 cap and a $75 rotor plus the belt. LOL

Engine looks nice. Do you run a mid plate, or just the front plate and trans mount?

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime

Well the first race of the year was a struggle to put it lightly. I hurt my lower back 4 weeks ago so it made everything difficult except driving. I left on Tuesday the 11th and made the trip to South Louisiana. I got parked around 5 that afternoon. They were having a TNT session but opted not to pay $100 for a few hits. That was a mistake! We got 3 time trials on Wednesday. My first pass I thought it was going to die on the throttle stop and the ET was way slow. It was 11.60 at 153mph. I didn't realize what I had done wrong until after the second wasted pass that my fuel line for the secondary bowl was in the way of the bellcrank on the throttle. This kept it from going wide open throttle. It didn't mean much as for power but it knocked the rpm on the stop to under 2800 rpm. I got that fixed and had a decent third pass. Then on Thursday morning we had first round . I screwed that up and lost so I was demoted to spectator for the rest of the day. My oil pressure kept dropping and I figured out that the piston coating was clogging up the oil filter. You're supposed to change it and I didn't. My engine guy was there and had a few quarts to replace what I lost fixing that mess. The truck had also developed a stumble going wide open coming off the throttle stop. So among all the other BS I tore the carbs down to clean and inspect (so fun with lower back pain). Friday morning It was one time trial and onto first round of the Sports Nationals. I go out and warm up but when I get back something doesn't sound right. I hadn't ran the valves since I was so busy with all the other problems. So I pull the valve covers and get started. When I get to #7 I find out I chunked the intake pushrod which ruined that rocker arm. I had a new spare in the trailer and luckily the pushrod looked ok (it wont come out the top with the motor in). So I get it back together and make my time trial. I won first round that afternoon and we were done for the day. We had weather coming on Saturday and were only able to get second round in which I won also. On Sunday I made it to 4th round when I lost with a -.002 redlight. I would have had a bye run into the final with a chance to win my second National Event. It took me all week to get over my race week.

Hope your back gets better. At least you made a few rounds which is better than someone else I know. When will you be at the Motorplex?

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime

My back is better luckily. I've changed a few things on the truck hopefully for the better. I may go to Xtreme to test before the next race but I'm not sure. The Motorplex Double Divisional race starts May 15th.

Glad to hear that, it's not fun when you're hurting. Text me if you do decide to go to XRP. I will mark my calendar for the Motorplex on May 16th. I will be at Thunder Valley on May 18th.

I got this in the mail yesterday from NHRA. Neat little trinket that should be on display with that Big Bronze Wally I should have had at the Belle Rose Sports Nationals. Uggh

A little something out of National Dragster. They like to talk about the truck but don't say much about my driving. Lol

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime

Hey D13 sorry for no updates as of late. I didn't do very well back in May at the Double Divisional at the Tx Motorplex. I actually won a Shootout race where the top 8 qualifiers raced for a purse of a $1000.00 that was sponsored by Pro1 Safety. That was the night before the first Divisional race. I screwed it up 3rd round and gave up the finish line by around .004 for the loss. I lost 1st round of the 2nd race with a redlight. It's funny that I had a long wait before the burnout and an inexperienced track crew member blow all the water away from my left slick by continuosley standing in one spot with a blower. I had to back through the water and get my burnout. I guess I got a little amped up and I redlit. That dashed my hopes of a third Jegs Allstars appearance this fall. I haven't even started the truck since I pulled it in the trailer. DB brought me some slicks a few weeks ago and it's sitting on jackstands waiting for me to put them on.We will be in Tulsa for another Double Divisional on September 18th. Then the Tx Motorplex for the Stampede of Speed October 6th through the 12th.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime

Well I guess I'm overdue for an update. My season was over this past weekend. Back in September we went to Tulsa for our Double Divisional. In the first race I really blew it second round on a sure win. Then in the second race I made it through first round on Saturday only for the rain to come in big time. They called the race at 2pm Sunday and rescheduled the remainder during the Fall Nationals Stampede of Speed at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis TX. So that meant I had a lot of racing to do in a week. We started the Ennis Divisional on Oct 6th with the remainder of the Tulsa race mingled in. I was struggling with my lights and it cost me. I lost 3rd round of the Ennis race on Tuesday and 4th round of the Tulsa race afterwards. That left me outside the Top Ten in points for the first time in four years at 11th. We still had the National Event and I made it until Saturday morning when I lost 3rd round to my friend Jarrod Ross in his Anglia.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime

As I said before I'm not happy with the changes I made last winter with the cam and converter. So the motor will be coming out for at least a cam change. I just have to decide which of the two I have to stick back in it. I may try the converter again to see how it works. There is a possibility of some big changes with the fuel system but that's still up in the air. I'll post any updates later.

The motor is out and the converter is on its way to Coan undo my mistake. You don't know if you don't try.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime

Well the cam is changed. I went back with the old cam I used last year. The converter is back also. The truck ran better last year when it had a weak cylinder than it did fresh with the new cam. Granted part of that was the converter but it just made sense to put it back like it was. I was turning 300 to 400 rpm extra for nothing. I just sent a pattern of to DRE Engine Diapers so I will actually have one that fits. Other than that I sent some pushrods off to Smith Brothers for repair and ordered a few extra rocker arm bodies from T&D. You can't fix them at the track if you don't have spare parts. And I'm pretty good at breaking things.
