Still working at the cab, I knew it would be a challenge but I have time and patience.

The cowl was rotted out on both sides, so I patched it up. I know, i excel at mediocracy, but I am the future previous owner.

Nope, I shall wallow in this pit of rust and despair and will come out of the far side burnt, bruised, and victorious.

At least that is the plan.

Luckily I'm retired so I do have more time than some of you younger guys.

As far as patience, it comes and goes! I've quit this build 4 times, but restarted the next day!

Got the kick panel and a-pillar welded in.

Also welded up some rust spots on inner kick panel. I'm seriously thinking about deleting the vents, the repairs needed are above my ability and I never used the ones in my other trucks. Are there any guys out there that have done this and regretted it later?

Nice progress on the rust repairs. The only reason I like having a vent on my '68 is so I can leave it cracked open to allow somewhere for the pressure to escape when shutting the doors. I've considered adding a pressure relief valve in the door frame like the later trucks have.

I thought about that but I have to wonder how tight these trucks are. Heck, most of the cab corners are wide open that I have seen. I like the idea of having the vents but I'm really going to have to do some thinking to keep them. I actually thought about buying some of the 60-66 vents (which bolt in) and making them fit.

If theres a simpler/hopeful better vent solution, we'd all like to see that!!!
