Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

That is sad after all these years.

Some of the employees there have probably been there for a Long time.

The KFC in town has been on a Decline for years.
I was noticing on social media the other day,
Several people saying how bad it was run and the employee's didn't seem to care about the condition of the restaurant.

It's been about 7 years since I ate there.
It was pretty bad then.

Defiantly not the Original recipe type of atmosphere I grew up with.

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

Worst food ever... I stopped there years ago and couldn't eat the chicken.
The pieces are large, KFC birds must be 4 weeks old, they are so small.
Thriftway, in Toledo Oregon, has the best fried chicken anywhere.
Always hot and fresh. Pieces are twice the size of KFC.
If you get to the Oregon Coast (By Newport) it and the Donut shop are the only recommendations I can make in Toledo.
The chicken is worth the tip if you like it fried.

All of the "fast food" chains have steadily declined over the years.
I remember McDonald's when they cut fresh potatoes in their stores for their fries. Now they have frozen fries with 19 questionable ingredients.
Wendy's first burgers were just as they advertised "hot and juicy"
And the list goes on....

Haven't had any KFC for prob'ly close to 20 years. McDs never, their food is nasty. My choices are just, In-n-out double/double or a Carls grilled chicken sandwich

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

I worked at our KFC in the summer of 1985 as a cook. Our local store, and several others, were owned and operated by a local gentleman. He made sure that we scrubbed the kitchen every night and cleaned the entire restaurant. I never saw a roach, etc. It was a well run operation, and a good place to eat, because of the owner who did it right. He retired and sold out about 10 years back and downhill it went.

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

Same here. KFC used to be one of the nicest places to eat. Now days, ours is run down like an old dirty roadside motel. The food bar is non existent and the food is awful and over priced. There used to be company standards all franchises had to maintain. Guess they don't bother with that anymore.
It's a bad state of affairs when the best chicken we can get is Chester's chicken at gas convenience stores.

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

Alas, must also say our local KFC has grown, stagnated, declined and is now defunct, aka "GONE". When I first came to town in early '70s KFC was a small set up with only a few stools at the counter. Most was take out, good flavor, crunchy and decently priced. After a few years they moved to a new location, set up a buffet/salad bar and the place was always packed. Sundays after church was almost a line waiting sometimes. Move down the time line a few years, the buffet/salad bar was removed. Added more tables, portions and taste declined, a direct opposite of the rising costs. Chicken was greasy, no longer the crispy crunch from days past. Customers declined to a point it finally closed up with no one buying the current tasteless and high priced offerings. Sad but as has been said previously in the thread, not surprising at all.

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

Last fall at our family gathering my sister brought KC chicken. Enough for 10 plus people.
It was horrible. I think the chicken was left over from the night before and KC just reheated it prior to her picking it up.
Never again.

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

.

I was in Oklahoma a couple months back, got hungry and stumbled into a KFC. They had a daily special for cheap and that day's meal was chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans and a slice of toast. It was absolutely delicious and that is very rare indeed coming from me.

YMMV

But yeah, back in the day...oh yes a big bucket of KFC, extra crispy hit the spot pretty darn often in my world. Complete with potatoes and cole slaw! And Biscuits...can't forget about them.

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

The only reason I ever go to our local KFC is because it's a KFC/A&W and I can get an frosted draft mug of A&W root beer there. The food is terrible.

There was a H.Salt Fish & Chips next to the KFC where I grew up. It kicked arse on KFC. We ate their take out mostly.

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

When I was a kid we went to A&W to get Kentucky Fried Chicken and it was great. When they became KFC the name was not the only place they started cutting corners.

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

I love the KFC commercials where every container is overflowing with chicken, mashed potatoes, and whatever else they are promoting. Go in and get some of that overflowing goodness and nope nothing like the pictures. Plus it really is expensive to eat at KFC. Even more so than all the other fast food joints.

Re: KFC becomes TFC ?

Last time we bought KFC it was an 8 piece bucket and two sides. Almost $40. It wasn't great. That was after we quit dining inside.
