Re: 72 C10 for my 25th wedding anniversary
Nice work getting that turn signal switch replaced without cutting the wires.
They made two versions of the turn signal lever. The other version was for tilt columns and it had less of a bend to it. I installed one on my truck to get more clearance between the lever and the steering wheel. It ended up increasing the space by a little over an inch. I posted some photos of it in post #10 of this thread: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/....php?p=9259098 The straighter tilt version can be purchased here: https://classicparts.com/1967-72-tur...l-lever-w-tilt |

That’s great info! Exactly what I needed. Thanks for sharing, and providing the link to the correct part. I never knew what the difference was between the tilt and non tilt levers. I haven’t received the turn signal parts yet, hopefully they will arrive today. I was able to disassemble the column enough to get the wires out intact, so I should be able to reassemble just the same. I will have to check out the lever I ordered, I may reconsider heating and bending it if it will ruin the chrome . It also cost more than the one from Classic Parts, so returning it may be the best option. It’s nice to know that the tilt lever provides better clearance without having to modify anything. Thanks again for the info!

Re: 72 C10 for my 25th wedding anniversary
Some off the parts I have ordered have arrived.
Comparing the original parts to the new, the original non tilt turn signal lever above the replacement. The bend looks very close as expected, I may return it though, and get the one for a tilt column thanks to info shared by pjmoreland. The red hazard on the turn signal switch does not match the color of the original. The original is a brighter red, while the replacement is duller, almost maroon. Not a huge deal, because my truck is far from original, but if it was going in a restored truck, or a nice original survivor I would be disappointed. Especially since it’s advertised as the “ correct original red hazard knob” More in a bit….

Re: 72 C10 for my 25th wedding anniversary
I had a little time to start putting the turn signal switch back into the column.
The switch harness came with the connector depinned. I guess in some cases it would be helpful, and aid in chasing the wires through the column and dash, but in my case since I pulled the old one out with the connector, I decided to push the wires into the connector and install the switch the way it came out.

Re: 72 C10 for my 25th wedding anniversary
Had a chance to finish up with the turn signal switch wires , getting them run along the bottom of the column and wires tucked back under the dash. Not difficult, I just don’t fit very well between the pedals and the seat laying on my back anymore. Then trying to see what I’m doing while tucking the wires back into place.
But in all not too bad. I decided to bend the lever almost straight to gain clearance.I don’t think it was stressed too bad. I did it without heating it up. I just put the flat end in the vice and pulled on it slowly by hand until it was where it needed to be. If it ever fails, I will buy the non tilt lever.

Nice, and straightforward solution. It's great that the chrome didn't crack.

I think it turned out Ok, everything works as it should. If the replacement lever fails in any way, it will give me a reason to change out the steering wheel to something different, and then go to a tilt lever. Again thanks for the info and the link

Re: 72 C10 for my 25th wedding anniversary
The 3” exhaust tube and some bends have been delivered, so I can finish the rest of the exhaust. Same route as current exhaust, just increasing from 2.5” to 3”
The old throttle cable is just a little too short, so I had to get another one of those as well. More to come….

Re: 72 C10 for my 25th wedding anniversary
My new injectors from Fuel injector clinic arrived. When talking with them they recommended the 525cc LS2 injector. I also needed adapters to convert from the EV1 connector on the Holley terminator harness to the EV6 connector on the new LS2 injectors. I’m not sure I like the adapters they sent, they are long and a bit bulky, not sure how they will look. So I ordered a different type from Michigan Motorsports, they are more compact and provide another option.
Tomorrow I hope to figure out brackets to mount my old fuel rails to the FAST Intake. I know the rails will fit, but I’m pretty sure the existing brackets will not work…..
