When I staged I lined up more to the left of the groove and that seemed to straighten it out. Maybe I was out of the groove when I was first lining up. I thought I was lining up correctly. The S10 went straight on Sunday with no problems. I did notice the S10 needs an anti-roll bar. When the truck pulls the front wheels, the truck is not level. The anti-roll bar will fix that.

Update: Anti-Roll bar installed. Rear 4-link, front and rear shocks, front upper/lower control arms were removed, cleaned and greased. Truck is scaled and ready for the track.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

While the S10 was on the lift I noticed the front driver side caliper was dragging. Passenger side wheel would spin freely but the drive side wheel did not. So, I ordered seal kits and rebuilt the caliper. It is a 4-piston Aerospace Components brand. Very good quality and easy to rebuild. Now the wheel spins like the passenger side wheel, no dragging.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

I finally had a nice day to go to the track and make some passes on the new anti-roll bar. Xtreme Raceway Park was open Saturday at noon so off I went. Made five passes and none of them were very good. I redlit 4 of the 5. On my 1st pass I cleared my delay box earlier and could not remember what my delay setting was. I was in the left lane and just entered a number in the box, stagged, light came on and I let go of the button. Truck rolled before I stabbed the throttle, redlight. Just cruised down the track. Got back to the trailer, checked by racers log and found the correct delay and entered it. 2nd pass, in the right lane, stagged, light came on, stabbed the throttle and it launched with the wells up. Redlight.

3rd pass, right lane, redlight.
4th pass, left lane, no redlight
5th pass, right lane, redlight

I never made a full pass because I hit my rev limiter each time way before the finish line. My truck settings are - transbrake (launch) is 4600rpm, shift at 6800 rpm and rev limit at 7400rpm. I run a 32" tall slick, 4.71:1 gear and a turbo 400 trans.

The next trip to the track I will set the truck up with - transbrake 4000rpm, shift 6500rpm and 7400 rev limit.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Hopefully the weather will change soon for the better. It is downright cold.

My last TNT at Xtreme had me thinking my 4.71 rear gears were just wrong. After more research I am thinking now my issue is fuel related. After doing some calculations about diff gear recommendations, the 4.71's maybe fine. I did find the positive and negative wires for the MSD box was not fully tightened. My fault must have got in a hurry when I replaced the box back last year. I was told years ago that the float level for E85 should be at half level on front sight window and almost to the top of the window in the rear. I checked and mine was right. I was also told I could run up to 7.5 psi fuel pressure before having any over pressure issues. So, I bumped mine up to 7.5 psi now.

Making and checking these made me think about my fuel pump and what its capacity was. I run a Magnafuel Quick Star 300. The tech sheet says it can handle 950hp naturally aspirated on race fuel but only 500hp on alcohol. Well, E85 is alcohol and I over 700hp. I am thinking fuel pump will need to be changed. I will verify when I go to the track soon. If I do need a fuel pump, I will go to the Magnafuel Pro Star 500. It handles up to 1200hp on alcohol.

Re: 2000 S10 Xtreme Drag Truck

Are you testing your e85 or is what your using spec mixed w/a data sheet provided?

Looking forward to seeing this one put some passes down.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Yes, I do test my e85 and it came out as e90 which is very good. Hopefully the weather will turn right for me real soon. I need to get some runs in because the season starts March 23rd at Xtreme.

If you watch youtube videos you can check this link out below and scroll over to 22:40 and watch my run against a big block 68 Dart.
