Cleetus.

.

I know there's likely a lot of you who know of this guy and the possibility exists that he's not very popular around here. Regardless, I think the lad did just fine in his Daytona appearance today. What got me though was his post race interviews both at track level and in the "booth" with the race commentators. Wearing his racing suit he went into character as Cleetus McFarland during the track side interview and showed up in the booth wearing a wife beater, shorts and a Cleetus logo green farm hat while fully into character.

My thoughts are that this is a bit of a NASCAR marketing move to expose their product to a different demographic, expand their viewership and attempt to sustain their operations. Whatever, I think it's pretty cool and intend to follow his progress in the sport so it's worked on me.

Being a very casual NASCAR observer (road racing!), this will be new to me.

Re: Cleetus.

I'm a big fan of ol Cleeter. I actually watched about half the cup race on Sunday for the first time in many years.

I'm an old fart, and I watch youtube, but I never have gotten on the Cletus wagon.

Nascar is growing old for me too. It has become like wrestling. If they don't like the way things are going, they throw a flag for debris.

What's more un American than putting a V8 in a Camry and calling it a stock car.

I seem grumpy don't I?
