Hang on to this fan?

I’m tossing stuff right and left and found this fan hiding in a cupboard. Looks to be close to18 inch. No idea where it came from. Toss pile?

Re: Hang on to this fan?

Looks like a flex fan, of which I am not a fan. I would throw it as far as you can and hope it doesn't boomerang back to you.

Ok cool Ill toss it. Ill have to hide it in the pile Im tossing because you cant toss anything away that is automotive. They are super strict and always ask if you have any car parts when I go to the dump.

That seems odd. How are you supposed to dispose of any automotive junk or scrap?

That's Easy...you just pay a hazardous waste fee to a politicians relative that the politician specifically wrote the law for, who in turn, just hauls it to the same dump you can't haul it to, but he has the "special permit" that says in the same law/mandate that the dump has to accept it for free.... then he sends 10% to the big guy.

If they question it, claim it is the wind part of a decorative windmill. But it does seem like an old flex fan.

Crazy, never heard of anything like that and I'm in Calif. Cut up my brothers caravan into about 12-15 pieces a few years back and hauled it off to the dump over the course of about 2 months. They never said a thing and there were sizable chunks. Scrap not being worth any right now, I am just throwing the smaller pieces right into the regular trash and the larger/heavier pieces get thrown into the recycle dumpster close to me

Glad yours works for you, but my one experience soured me on flex fans. In the nearly 48 years I've owned my K20, the only time it ever ran hot was when my original fan clutch failed and I temporarily bolted on a flex fan. Granted, I was going up the mountain with a load of firewood, but I had done that many times without overheating. I got a new fan clutch and haven't run hot since.

Re: Hang on to this fan?

I used to save up a small pile of metal stuff and take to the metal scrap yard. Don't even bother with that anymore. Gets cut up and bagged as trash.
