72 exhaust
Does anyone know if 73 -74 c10 tail pipes that are leaf spring trucks work on a 72 leaf spring truck. All the 2.5 inch kits and tail pipes state "coil spring only". No one seems to know even the companies who sell them. I do not want to take it to a exhaust shop, and prefer stainless if possable! The system I have now is 2.25" and 40 years old and needs replacement. When I bought it back then there was no "coil or leaf spring only"and it fit just fine! Any help here?

Re: 72 exhaust
Emailed Waldrons they told me they will not make any exhaust bigger than the stock 2". Guess they don't want to get involved with any of that performance upgrade nonsence.

Re: 72 exhaust
Tell them it's a big block truck. They came with 2.5" pipes stock.

Re: 72 exhaust
well that's nuts.i've dealt with Ruth a couple of times and found her very easy to work with.i think the last time i looked at Waldron's they had to 3 inch for some applications, stainless or regular pipe?the big block trucks had 2 1/2 front pipes from the engine to the mufflers and mine had 2 inch tail pipes, factory.i asked for their tailpipes but made from 2 1/4 not 2 inch and it was $20.00 more, but no problem?they're on my truck now.

Re: 72 exhaust
I put the Flowmaster American Thunder kit on my '72 with coil springs and it was a fantastic fit that did pretty much just bolt on, with a few holes with easy to use templates/measurements. Used flex hose to connect from my headers to the exhaust until I can get to a shop and have that connection made.
https://www.holley.com/products/exha...r/parts/817654 Might be worth looking at the kit from the perspective of turning out ahead of the wheel, or doing custom outlets but being able to use the rest of the kit. |
