Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain

Thanks for the flip, I dont know why it does that. I didnt see the person even though I took several pictures all the way around and kind of hanging out with it. Thanks for following this build. It is more like a mental thing then a build. I installed the fender because I am mostly done on this side with mechanical and electrical. I really need to get this truck together. All the good parts went on the other truck and this one is the scraps, so not everything is fitting. There is actually a lt of electrical in this truck and it is taking a while for me to sort it in my brain. It is getting there. Yesterday I installed the new windshield crank and wired the headlight switch. I have also been sorting the wires and wraping them in each of there sections. Under the dash on these trucks is a lot of room but there are moving parts. The windshield crank and the cowl vent can cut and short wires easily. zip ties and electrical tape are awesomes. Those cable covers are great in the engine area. Hope to be working on 12 volt port and gauges this next week, oh and the radiator electric fan.

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain

This showing the new window crank and the dash.
I replaced the original throttle and choke with alternator exciter light and engine light for the TBI.
The blue fender...the truck was originally this dark blue color. But the fender would have been black. I am going with a patina blue paint job. I am trying to have this as my daily driver. I dont want to worry about it. It should be bullet proof driver I am hoping.

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain

There is a little toggle under the dash. I am going to light it on the dash to make sure I remember to turn on the fan. The accelerator pedal is being changed to a stock TBI style so I can use the kick down feature.

This is a 16.5 x 6.75 rim it tucks the wheel in 1 inch. I need to find one more of these for the front. My other wheels I can figure out what size they are. The width of the rim not written on the wheel. Maybe its the same as my others and the offset is different. I will need to figure it out

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain

i worked on head lights and park lights and setting up some grounds for the front. My new head light switch turns off the park light when the headlights are turned on. I will have to fix that. I hooked a ground on to my cooling fan flipped the switch and it blew the fuse. Replaced the fuse flipped the switch and it blew again. Replaced the fuse took the ground off flipped the switch and nothing. touched the ground and it worked. Flipped the switch off and flipped it back on and it blew the fuse. So I dont get it. I will work on it tomorrow. Maybe change the switch. It is a metal switch on a metal dash. I have a plastic one maybe that will work

Re: 1942 Chevrolet Flatbed that ate My Brain

I was thinking about it last night and figured it out. I switched the power not the ground. It is too much of a surge for the fuse and it is not a small draw fan. I will change it today. Also starting to think I need to flip the fan blade over for more air
