Re: Comp help please

I hope your settlement goes well.

Documentation from this Forum will be a Plus as others have said.

I wish I could be there and stand on the witness stand and Speak my mind.

This reminds me of this movie in the U-tube video below.

I hope things go well for you.

Here's the clip from the movie.

Re: Comp help please

Super low poster on here, but I have to speak up as this sucks.

All those old car price guide websites have to be taken with a grain of salt. Also read the captions for all the options for pricing.

First one is JD Powers price guide which yours would be "low retail" NOT "average retail", look below those and you'll see "good condition" $17,300.

https://www.jdpower.com/cars/1957/gm...ickup-shortbed

Go here and click on sales history tab and hoover over each green dot to see that truck. Yours would also be on the low end.

Hagety website:
https://www.hagerty.com/valuation-to...54&catalog=yes

You need to gather as much info as you can and have it with you. He can claim what he wants but facts are facts.

BTW, if you really want to throw him, do some fact checking of your own on the price of his things and bring that with you. Be like a bulldog and make him back down.

Re: Comp help please

I don't put much credence in those pricing guides as who knows what they base prices on and if it is Barrett-Jackson prices except on Monday or Tuesday they are not relevant.

She needs more of what I posted in post 2 with trucks that are very similar to hers all the way around. Those are trucks that are very similar to hers in that they are nice drivers that can be enjoyed and taken to shows but are not fully detailed trucks with high dollar paint and a high dollar interior and a spotless highly detailed engine compartment. Still they are well above a beater or dump runner truck. 15/20 K is what her truck would sell for on the open market depending on where you are. In SoCal it might go for a bit more at the Fathers day swap meet at Pomona when people are walking around with the itch and people have gone there from all over the country if not the world. Here in Central Washington they would low ball you if you ask 15 most of the time from what I have seen.

Trouble is that when a guy has watched a few auction shows and has been asking around the local spit and whittle club what his wife's (soon to be ex) Truck is worth the estimate gets blown way up over it actually is. Especially when he thinks he can get half of the value either by getting a larger share of the settlement or at worse making her sell the truck.
