Not trying to get into an argument, but not sure why you would need to change:

Radiator
Motor Mounts (adapter plates use your existing mounts)
Gas Tank

Re: In case you're thinking about a 4L80E...

These are EFI/blown engines that they kept a retro look on. Someone should do up an LS like these. I think it's a cool look, but could it be applied to an LS with coil packs and so on? Hard to say.

In Soviet Union, forums respect rotation bits on photos.

Gosh I love that blower motor with the generator on it!

Isn't new truck engines still Vortec engines and not LS engines?

No argument taken, all good points.
I fabbed my motor mounts using old Ford flathead pucks. I'm not sure if they are compatible with the LS offset brackets. Maybe they would work.
I don't know how the LS radiators are laid out per inlet and outlet locations. I could just cap and relocate the spigots to utilize mine. It is aluminum.
My fuel tank is one of the typical rear frame mounted aluminum ones. It has no provision for an intank fuel pump. I'll just sell that one and get the correct one. There's no way I'm welding on a used fuel tank!

Re: In case you're thinking about a 4L80E...

They'd look good in a minitruck or a slammed modern unit, and they'd run well, but I assure you that because of the way my truck is restored (not the level, but the way, all stock) it'd be a big letdown for folks when I opened the hood. I love the 376 unit.

Now if everything about the rest of the truck screamed "modern", then they'd be expecting it. But nothing really does. I'll be showing it with hubcaps, after all.

Well the first one is in the holly c10, and at a glance really dose not look all that different than yor pic with the 402. The point is there are ways around the plastic and wires if you want the old school look. Again my engine in my aviator may be a disappointment for some or an oh heck yea for others. Either way I don't care. I like how it runs and performs ! That's why I chose to just cover the plastic intake cause the prettier ones don't flow as good unless you spend serious coin . Either way your truck is cool bud! They all are on this site. Heck I even like the ones with rust holes in the floor you can stick your foot through. That with a high hp engine and good suspension setup is a hole other thrill. IE the farm truck..... I even have seen pics of them rat rodded and made into roadsters. You really can't go wrong with this body style!

Re: In case you're thinking about a 4L80E...

Reviving an old thread....
First off....what did davepl end up doing?

Next is comparing prices from 2016 to 2025.

I picked up a used 4L85e for $700. CDN
US Shift 2 controller $600 US
Modified tail housing to run a cable speedometer $750 CDN
Jake’s Performance Stage 3 rebuild kit $1452.50 US
Circle D custom triple disc converter with lock up $1429.00 US
Holley throttle position for Dominator carb $100.00 US

So I took the US prices, added them up, and times it by 1.3 to get a close conversion rate, then added the Canadian prices.
So far, I’m at $6105.95
I still have to have the transmission rebuilt.
Drive shaft made. (Going with either 1350 or 1480 u joints and slip yoke...still need to buy)

Yes it is expensive, but I wanted a transmission that could take the power of the engine and still be able to run it down the highway without my ears bleeding from the rpm.

I will be installing it myself, but I am not rebuilding it.

Re: In case you're thinking about a 4L80E...

I was near that.

My convertor came by spec rite in redding and they said unless I'm planning on high gear burnouts or a thousand hp a single disc was fine.
And a hgm electronics controller.

Are you planning on boost or N20? If not your way over kill. I have a boosted 6.0 that makes 640whp on E85 and I have 1350’s and a 3800 single disc billet stall that only cost about half of that circle D. No need for a triple. I only use my lockup during cruising because it robs power on WOT runs. My original swap was about $3200 to get driving with a cam swap (2016) I have well over $20K in the driveline now and that’s not counting the help of my sponsors.

Heavily modified 572. Running a 3K stall now in the turbo 400.
With build specs and weight I gave to Chris Straub, he ground a solid roller for me to make between 750-800 hp.
When I gave all my specs to Circle D, they spec’d the converter for the application.
One of the questions was: will you ever do a WOT in overdrive...to which I replied, “Yes”.

Re: In case you're thinking about a 4L80E...

I know its a lot of money.. but the drivability you get with a 4L80 is money well spent in my opinion.

Re: In case you're thinking about a 4L80E...

Picked the transmission up today from the shop who rebuilt it using Jake’s Performance Stage 3 rebuild kit, and his re-cal kit.
