Show me your aftermarket wheels

I am considering a little more modern looking set of wheels and something all polished or chrome. I saw these wheels on a truck a while back and kind of liked them and they are not too expensive. Show me what you are running

Re: Show me your aftermarket wheels

I have 17 x 8 Torque Thrust 11"s ( 2's ) on my truck. Classic and kinda modern looking ( to me ) at the same time. Cragar SS have a great look on these trucks as well.

16x8 us mag wagon wheels. Added trim Rings and center caps from 2002 Silverado. Not the latest style, butt I have always liked them.

Re: Show me your aftermarket wheels

Got these from Les Schwab long ago because I wanted something other than the white with hubcap originals which I still have.

Wasn't a whole lot of choices for 6 lug wheels and I have often been tempted to go with 5 lug spindles/axles for that very reason alone.

My biggest concern though, is that often times manufacturers simply discontinue that particular style of wheel and you're out of luck if you are ever in need a replacement down the road...no pun intended.

That has happened to me before with a different car.

Re: Show me your aftermarket wheels

As a matter of fact it wasn't but a few years later that I needed a replacement and Les Schwab no longer carried that exact wheel.

The closest they could come was with black rivets, not really obvious but now I know I have one different wheel and I doubt they have anything even remotely similar to these anymore.

Thanks for the kind words. They are "Old School" for sure.

I bought those wheels off eBay. They were in fairly rough shape cosmetically, but they aren't bent or warped.

I was able to machine them and modify them slightly from the original look.
The fins extended all the way down to the lugs and the hole pattern wasn't symmetric with the fins.

I machined off about 1/16" to smooth up the lug hole area and I radiused the ends of the fins to blend into the center.
Polishing was just too labor intensive, so I had them powder coated.

There were no center caps and I could not find any that would fit. So I machined some from 4" billet aluminum bar.
There just aren't many choices nowadays for 6 lug wheels.

Re: Show me your aftermarket wheels

Those cleaned up really nice! I like the billet caps. I did the same thing with some sport wheels I put on my '68 Skylark (long gone). I had the metal and access to a lathe. Cheaper than repro caps, that's for sure.

Re: Show me your aftermarket wheels

I think these vintage turbines are maybe as nice as it gets for a LWB. I polished the turbine faces, and had wheels clear coated. They were sold with the truck.

I bought the truck with 8.25x16.5 front and 10.5x16.5 rear Western Wheel Turbines, but tires for 10.5" are like $500 each. With luck I found a matching set of four 8.25" Western Wheel Turbines. Short those and the mirrors, the truck's exterior was otherwise pretty beaten up.

I hadn't seen those wheels before or remembered them, and I thought they were just retro styling.
