Brought another home
I broke a cardinal rule and picked up someone else's project- this '57 just for parts. The P.O. had it for two years and never got it done so he unloaded it and it had been started on by the owner before him. Definitely a mismatch of stuff, dually front axle in a 3/4ton frame, single wheel rear axle. Has a 283/SM420, the trans has a Chelsea PTO hanging on it. Its not terrible but not something I'd finish assembling and drive either, the body needs a few previous repairs fixed then sanded down and repainted.
It came with enough parts to fill the back of my pickup too so I'll use what I can and the rest will get parted out.

Re: Brought another home
Looks pretty good from the Picture!
One thing I have learned in all my years is that you can never have to many projects!!

Re: Brought another home
I'd have to say that that one is a legitimate frame swap candidate from the get go or get someone's stock 3100 short box rolling chassis and set the cab and nose over on it and find someone to fall in love with it.

Re: Brought another home
The body, minus the grille and hood, is going on my '56 Napco project so I can finally get that going again. The front wheels are spoken for already too. The P.O. put a pair of Patriot headers on it but said they wouldn't fit- turns out they're for tri-five Chevy cars, not a truck, so the collector is up against the transmission crossmember. He did have the original manifolds though. I need to run the engine casting numbers yet but the suffix code says its a '57 283 passenger car engine. Have to sort through the piles of parts that came with it, somehow a big blue Ford tractor generator got tossed in so not sure what I'll find in all of it.
