Re: Aisin AR5 Transmission Swap
Follow up question. How far back does the shift placement move back. Say in comparison to where the stock SM465 came thru the floor.
I am worried it will move back to far and not work with a bench seat in a 67-72. |

Re: Aisin AR5 Transmission Swap
Dimensions are included in the attached photo. I am not sure how it compares exactly to the older three speeds and 4 speeds but I do know it is a little further back then the OEM floor mounted unit's. I think it's still pretty close to where they come out like how the hurst/mr gasket floor mounts come out. I drilled a a small guide hole in my tunnel where I guestimated and measured but have to much junk in the way to figure it out today (sorry). I just used a string and marker tied to the bottom bolt off the lowest bellhousing bolt off my ls block.

Awesome that is great information. That give me a much better idea of where it will come out of the floor. Now time to go out and do some measuring.

Re: Aisin AR5 Transmission Swap
Next question. What slip yoke is needed? Can the one out of the SM465 (2WD) be used with the AR5? Use the slip yoke out of the donor colorado and then use a conversion u-joint? Or so special slip yoke?
