'74 Audio upgrade
I've always liked a good audio system, car and home.
The 74 has the factory AM radio. I am leaving it because I won't cut the dash. Plan is to add a Bluetooth adapter and directly feed my 4 channel amp. 2 channels will power a set of 6x9 component speakers, and the other two channels bridged to run a sub. I purchased a set of metal mounts from 73-87.com for the 6x9 that fit into the corner behind the seat . They seem very well made, and made in USA which is important to me. I painted them, and will add a layer of deadening mat before installing into corners. Built a sub box to fit behind the seat today. Using a shallow sub from infinity. Seat will go all the way back. |

Re: '74 Audio upgrade
Made more progress the other day after work.
Carpeted the sub box, added deadener and carpet to the 6x9 corner adapter plates. Last edited by Shark_13; 03-23-2025 at 11:55 AM. |

Looking sharp. Nice, clean installation.

Re: '74 Audio upgrade
Thanks!
Plan is to keep it completely "stealth", nothing visible. Amp, crossover and Bluetooth adapter will all be under seat on floor. After I recover the seat, I hope to modify it to make it fold forward. Then I can use the space beside the sub box for a little bit of storage too |

Re: '74 Audio upgrade
Here's the rough layout.
Got the carpet removed, power run to the battery, passenger 6x9 in. After work this week should be able to finish it up wiring. |

Re: '74 Audio upgrade
It's finished except for tweeters. Haven't found their final spot yet.
Rockford Bluetooth adapter works pretty slick, stream directly to amp. |

Re: '74 Audio upgrade
Tweeters sound pretty good down on the kick panels.
Bonus I used the existing panel mounting screw so it worked out well Put a couple acdc albums through it today. Needs a little tuning still but pretty good. |
