Correct flywheel zz383
I have a 1970 c1500 that the motor just popped. I have a zz383 fresh from the machine shop i was going to use in my 55 chevy but looks like i will have to steal it until i can build a new motor. I had it setup for a flywheel and muncie but but now need a flexplate for a th350. Right now my starter is setup for a 168 tooth flexplate would be ideal but not a deal breaker.
Would gm 14088761 work for my application? |

Re: Correct flywheel zz383
the 168 tooth flex plate is in all configs needed. But you need to find out if the crank and block was set up for 1 or 2 piece rear main. Internal, or front, and or rear balance. Typically a ZZ383 is 1 piece seal and externally balanced on both ends. Harmonic balancer in front and flex plate or Flywheel at the rear will all need to be weighted.

Re: Correct flywheel zz383
If the crank is externally balanced the damper will either have extra weight in one area or be drilled to reduce weight opposit
