No. It was in the truck when I bought it in 1997 but I got it back with the buy back . Not sure if I'll use it this time around. Saving it in a box for now.

They are cool. Took some work to make them. I sanded and refinished them a couple times while I had the truck and I had added after market gauges and tach.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I've been busy the last week or so. After painting the frame on my 68 K10, I installed the gas tank, installed new shocks, dropped in my new crate 350 tbi/K case 700r4/241c combo, and installed a new 4 row aluminum radiator. I ended up using a trans crossmember from a 1990 Suburban, which fit great, except for having to drill new holes in the frame. The height using the stock 87-95 rubber trans mount is perfect, giving me a 4 degree engine angle (I might shim it up to 3 degrees), and clearance for the front driveshaft is wonderful. The double cardan front driveshaft, also from a wrecking yard 1990 burb, fits perfectly, extended halfway down the slip yoke after installation. The rear is at the driveline shop being shortened. Rear pinion angle is 7 degrees, so I'll have to shim it up to 3-4 degrees once I get a full gas tank and bed on it.

Here are a few pics:

First time around the block

First trip on a major street to get some gas

The 67/68 [and earlier] steering wheels got sticky in high humidity because of their composition. They were a ''Composition'' of ground Walnut shells and glue. [The same Composition they used for first generation skateboard wheels.]
For some reason, in high humidity water vapor was absorbed into the wheel, and some of the glue wept out. I learned from frends in San Diego, if you rubbed the wheel with surf board wax, the stickyness was countered.

With the newer style two-arm wheel in Model Year 1969, the steering wheels were cast in Cycolac, a tough plastic that bowling balls are also made of. '69 / '72 wheels should not get sticky.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Ground and pounded the upper track bar bolt out of its bracket. Someone had welded the bolt and nut to the bracket for some insane reason.

I would have left it alone except for the constant clunking from the non-existing track bar bushings.

The lower bolt (axle) is tighter than heck so I anticipate bursting a vein trying to get it loose. The grinder may be employed for that one as well.

Scrubbed it off and went to a car show. Left the driver's door window down and someone threw a flyer about a future car show in. #litter

Member #Richard and I had a good time chatting and looking at the old iron. Had burgers at the Rock and Roll Cafe, too. I saw several examples of vehicles I had and never should have sold.

Taking the fan off my 68 327 in order to more easily adjust my valves and I accidentally smacked the water pump pulley into the pristine original style radiator. Slammed the hood and walked away FML.

Not quite as bad, but a couple years ago, I was changing out the Heater Core on my '68 C/10 w/292 L6 for an NOS Core.
I thought, I'd done a pretty good job of it. After I finished rebolting the fender screws on the Fender Skirt, I noticed the phillips drywall screws I had shot to mount it had pierced the metal core and coolant was dripping down.
