What's Going On With Mar-K

Hello All
I have ordered bedsides and various other parts for my 1966 Stepside from Mar-K. The parts were ordered 4 months ago and I have called them several times and keep being told it will be 10 more weeks?? Of course when I ordered the parts I was never informed of this. I just got off the phone with them and the newest story is they will have to check with their production department and get back to me. Anyone else in the same situation.

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

I ordered bedwood and strips in December. Upon ordering, I received back that it would take up to 45 days for "special order" parts. Waited 45 days and checked back with them. None of the stuff ordered was what I would consider special order. Amy told me that it would take another 8-12 weeks. When asked if it could be longer, She couldn't answer. I cancelled my order, it is now week 4 and no credit back to my credit card. Had to turn it over to the bank to get my money back-still waiting.

It's too bad, I have been very impressed with Mar-K stuff. Search Mar-K and check out Google reviews- we aren't the only people that are having issues. This is their response on Google reviews

At MAR-K Specialized Mfg we manufacture the highest quality American made truck parts. We strive to provide exceptional customer service and a positive experience for all of our customers. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve our customer service.

Sincerely,
MAR-K

Which would not be what I consider "exceptional customer service". They took my money, didn't give me anything, and won't return money after 4 weeks and counting

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

Thanks for the info I had a conversation with the woman who answered the phone and told her that I thought it was underhanded to be charging people the money for goods the don't have this is BS. But yet same old ads and nothing on facebook either about the situation.

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

After 2 weeks of cancelling order. I did check if order was cancelled-it was. I called and talked to Audrey(accounting). She asked for an additional week.(week 3) Because they batch process and have to make funds available. So at the end of 4th week it was turned over to my bank.

Somethings going on at Mar-K and it doesn't look good.

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

If you have an order open with them, or are awaiting refund, I would contact my credit card company ASAP. That may be your only recourse at this point. Just my opinion, but it doesn't look good, based on this thread and the other located here - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...wpost&t=857704

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

I just tried to call them and the dreaded "no answer" soooo.... the worst has probably happened they have closed.
I had a couple bed sides on order plus misc. parts totaling 2K. Fortunately I paid for them via the PayPal link. I just contacted PayPal and was told they would open a case and if in X days they don't respond I can get a refund. Thank You Jesus!!
What really ticks me off though is that all the while they were not delivering product they continued with their sales 10 15 20% off they had to know they were screwing people over. But it is a sad day another American company gone.

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

Small update
The website for Mar-K is gone
The shop tour video on Youtube has this comment from Keith Waggoner====

Worked at Mar-K for 36 years . I was the tool & Die machinist . Began work with the founder of the company in 1989 . I was there that day for the video shoot .

It’s terrible that all my years of passionate work is now just a memory . Foreclosure 05/21/2025

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

So disappointing. My entire bed besides the steps and fenders came from Mark K. I drove to their place in OKC and picked it up. Everything was quality and fit perfectly. I even talked with the president of the company and he showed me the wood finish kit they were about to release.

Wonder where they went wrong.

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

I have had few orders over the years with them, but what I did get was quality, maybe pricey, but quality. My opinion is that they are (were) a little fish in a big sea, like the Mom And Pop stores of the 70s and before. Companies like Holley go in and buy out these smaller suppliers, and if they don't cave in, they run them out. Think Wal Mart. As for their CS ,I have no answer, but I always preferred the truth when I am on the phone with a gripe.

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

If you just need bed wood I believe there is a company in southern MN that makes/sells bed wood kits.
For the life of me I don't recall the name.
I bought my side trim for my 68 C10 from Mar-K. Fit well and looked great.

The place for bedwood you're thinking about is probably Bruce Horkey's Wood and Parts - 46284 440th st - Windom,MN 56101 - 507 831 5625

https://www.horkeyswoodandparts.com/

For the bedwood there is also a place called Bedwood but they are in Hopkinsville Ky.

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

Before they closed I bought the front panel, cross sills and tailgate from them. This was a year ago. I got them and all was nice and of high quality. I have an old set of bed sides that I will have to fix now.

Re: What's Going On With Mar-K

Update-
Google now shows that Mar-k is temporarily closed

From tour video comments

The foreclosure date has been corrected to 03/21/25

and Jason Everson-shipping manager commented:

I see people saying we were a small fish in a big sea or it had to do with a lawsuit but they are wrong. In my opinion it was either deliberate or incompetence. A lot of us have rage and hate in our heart. Someone took a successful, profitable company and ran it into the ground. Screwed over customers, vendors, employees, and then rode off into the sunset. Of course this is just my opinion and alleged.

I’ve been following some of the Facebook pages and have read that customers unfulfilled orders have totaled over 1.1 million and that their suppliers over 3 million

Criminal in any amount. Most likely cannot fault the persons working as they were just doing their jobs with no knowledge of the shutdown. I never order from a business that charges me in full for something that has a wait. A small deposit is all I will do and that is when parts are needed to build something. If a vender charges my card and puts it on backorder, I immediately cancel the order.
