I guess I misunderstood the point of your comment.. I thought you were saying the vacuum mechanism could move the plate.. I totally agree, that replacement wire is too rigid for this application.. The original wire was a braided design using numerous very fine gauge wires.. A 7 strand wire will soon fail from the constant flexing..

In the distant past, that wire could be obtained from STANDARD IGNITION PRODUCTS. I don't know about now.
