Re: Frankentruck

Starting off my two week vacation the best way I know how: a truck show!

I finally got a couple of my friends to bring their trucks to a show with me today. Went to the old Atlanta Braves stadium for C10s In The City and had a great time. Also included a couple pics of my favorite trucks from the show.

GranPanteraRoja’s 505 green 65 sure does make me want to repaint Frankentruck!

Frankentruck towed the event trailer to my car club’s show today. I absolutely love the 63 Burb. Makes me want one of my own some day

Re: Frankentruck

Frankentruck has continued to be my somewhat daily driver. Still been driving typically at least 3 times a week. On Thursday I went to pick up a trailer we borrowed and was considering trying to use Frankentruck to pick up dad’s new project. However, when I got home with the trailer I found a severely leaky fuel hose right at the fuel pump. Haven’t fixed it yet, but dad now has a 68 Cutlass convertible. Should be a fun project!

I think it will be!

We got the Cutlass in the garage tonight. It fits, but there isn’t a whole bunch of space. Thankfully, we can easily roll it in and out of the garage when needed right now

Re: Frankentruck

Hmmm, that’s not supposed to happen. This fuel hose was purchased about 3 years ago or so. Guess I gotta keep checking on it and replace before it starts spewing everywhere

Re: Frankentruck

Yikes! That's never good! I've had rubber fuel line and those plastic fuel filters fail on me before. Always worried about an engine fire. I used as little rubber line as possible on my 66 as the lines are on the exhaust side. Good thing ya caught it!

Re: Frankentruck

Yeah these days fuel hose doesn't last very long and you gotta keep an eye on it.
Most of my better hose has held up ok for a few years but I have seen some cheap stuff like the short sections that comes with fuel filters crack and split within months to a year.
I usually have been using gates brand hose though mine has held up fine for a year or so I have heard that that brands quality is getting questionable as well.
Got some made in USA stuff off eBay some years ago and it's seemed to have held up ok but don't know if you could get the same stuff from there anymore.
From what I've heard it's best to run metal lines if all possible with very limited short sections of rubber hose and check the hose for cracking as part of regular maintenance.
All that said I have fallen to the cheap and simple way of useing rubber fuel line, currently running rubber hose from the fuel pump to the carb. On the 250 in my 76 C10. But I check it regularly and I do plan on running a steel line on it eventually.

Re: Frankentruck

Major life update: I bought a house, so now Frankentruck and Penny have their own spots in a garage.

Frankentruck has been putting in some work moving furniture and towing Penny to the new place. The previous owner had installed a trailer brake controller, and it still works, once I figured out the settings on it

The 283 had no problem pulling Penny, other than just going slower up the hills. Worked out very well!
