Re: Wiring problems

The brake light sounds like the switch is grounded . Try a continuity test on it .

The front markers could be a problem with the turn signal switch

I bought the new rebuilt tilt off a member, maybe I’ll give him a pm and see if he can think of anything.

I think you’re on to something.
I went out and looked. If you push in the emergency flashers. They don’t work until you turn the blinker on. And front marker lights come on to when breaking.
Turn flasher off, everything works fine.

After completion of your diagnostic check and if a replacement switch is needed, we have the long discontinued GM NOS tilt column specific turn signal switch and harness available in the below linked parts board F/S thread, the t/s switch is listed as item #16 on the NOS parts list. Let us know if interested, Mel

Thanks Mel
It’s all new stuff in the column so I’m hoping I luck out with something else I’m missing, if not I’ll be calling.

Re: Wiring problems

Re brake light. It is very likely the combo valve got tripped while bleeding the brakes. So your brakes are only working on one circuit. Likely front. You need to reset combo valve, lock the shuttle valve in the center position and bleed brakes with lock tool holding shuttle valve. Then reinstall brake warning switch on combo valve.

I ordered that little tool
I’ll let you know what happens, but I think you’re right. I did the fronts , then the backs a few weeks later.
I think that’s what it is.

You nailed it, the switch was grounded out. I ordered the little tool, but took it off and moved it back with a pointed testing light. Lights off…
Thanks for the help… I already started getting grey hair, and these problems don’t help.

It's when you start loosing your hair from pulling it out you need to worry. Glad the brake light solution was simple.
