1968 Stepside?
Hello all i currently Own a 1971 Cheyenne Longbed with factory buckets i was wondering if it would be wise to trade it for a 68 stepside about how much do you guys think a 68 step is worth in ok condition drivable?

I know I'd rather own a '68 Stepside than a longbed Cheyenne.

Kind of depends on what shape your truck is in. Personally I would rather have the stepside too if they are in comparable shape and equipped about the same.

I would also perferr a shortbox to a long box if your planning on doing a bunch of work to it. If it's just a driver or used for work the LWB might be the better choice.

im mostly looking to get just a cruiser not really for work if it where for work thered be no point in fixing it right? im looking to get a short so later along the line i can transplant an ls1 and a 700r4 into it and have a pretty fast lil truck

NADA doesn't know much though...there pricesd always seem to be way off on old stuff.
It is a personal choice for the best part, and it depends on what you want your dream cruiser to look like. Some would say you are screwed up in the head for wanting a short/step. I thing a short/step is the shiznit. I was planning on making my short/fleet into a short/step. On the flip side, the step side is probably a little on the stripped side (option wise) You'd be amazed at how much that little bit of chrome and headliner ect makes an old truck seem nicer...but again, all this can be added, and you could turn it into a clone of a super rare CST step side. (they did make them...just not many) The weight difference is not a whole lot, so don't let that part of the equation mak you get a truck that YOU think is ugly. IMO...If the two are equal in condition...I say do it and don't look back...but that's me.  Either way, it is a cool 'ole truck. |
