new window motors
Hello all,
I have to take my doors back apart and want to install new motors at the same time.. I did the relays but after new weather stripping my windows go down painfully slow. Anyhooo,,, At rock auto I see Cardone, ACI, WAI Dorman and an GM genuine. All are ~20 ecept the GM at 55... any feedback,, I do not mine paying more if it makes a difference. Thanks, Chris 1989 V2500 burb |

Re: new window motors
First before buy make sure you track rollers clean free from old, dried grease roll free tracks are greased. Can you see if its drawing lot power to move slow. You may want to check window felt make sure pressing too tight. (And the felt sliding finger they might adjusted to tight or need felts and adjusted). New weather-stripping coat with spray silicone soak into channel meat glass let dry or try baby powder.
you may have to re-adjust to make the looser work the weather stripping to make sure it is sitting correct in place. If the door window channel pulled close with the window down a lot over years can tight up the channel in the middle or front or rear wherever the door was grabbed pulled closed (can make the new weather stripping even tighter on the window. **Take your time look hard long how it works what move where it to snug lubed well. Test the motor for a big draw power but weak gear in and out of door be for ordering new motor check your buttons make sure contacts good clean could still be old motor switches, and if motor if dirty power points and plugs contacts with new rubber start over work burn them out or cause overheat burn power points and plugs contacts. Even new power points and plugs contacts with new rubber burn if there to tight missing parts wore out part channel to tight. Question you changed relay factory one? or did you add two relays to front doors DIY Mod. Because this have been known to help switches and motor life by taking some of the power out of the two parts make them last longer. I hope this helps good luck.

Re: new window motors
I have used Cardone motors on many vehicles and never had a problem

Re: new window motors
Go to LMC and order the power window upgrade harness, its like 25-30 bucks, made mine function like a new vehicle. Pretty simple to install as well, if that doesn't fix your issue, there is something else holding them back?
