700r4 gear housing question.

Leaking speedo gear housing at cable. Ok got the parts including new gear so no issues. I get the tci housing and I have extra? parts that I don't know where they go. The housing has the seal inside where the gear shaft seals, and an o ring on the outside where it goes in the trans. It came with a second large o ring maybe slightly larger in thickness. ( for outside of gear housing ?) A smaller o ring possibly for over the speedo male threads? A small gray seal, does this push in the end where the cable screws in? A large rubber seal I believe goes in the dipstick end where you check the level. And another seal I have no clue.
Thanks Rick

Re: 700r4 gear housing question.

I’m hoping somebody chimes in on your post because I have a newly installed 700R transmission and I’d be interested in checking for any future leak issues.
I have approximately 1000+ miles on the new tranny and I’ve already had to replace the rear seal because it had a small minor drip.
Hope you get some answers.

Why don't you contact Bowtie Overdrives. They've been doing these trans for at least 25 yrs. https://www.bowtieoverdrives.com

Re: 700r4 gear housing question.

I have the Bow Tie set up on it. With a FiTech. I just need to know what parts I need out of the kit and assembly order for the housing.

Re: 700r4 gear housing question.

This video should help plus it talks about how wear or scoring of the gear shaft is often the cause of leaks at the speedometer adapter.

Re: 700r4 gear housing question.

The smaller black rubber seal looks to be a TV cable seal.

The small grey seal looks to be the shift shaft seal, the short and tall bushing style are two different choices for the dipstick as well as the smaller black O-ring is another type of dipstick seal as well. The larger O-ring I would guess is for the servo cover.

Re: 700r4 gear housing question.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I had no idea that I was getting all of that. So I can put all of it except the gear housing with everything already in it in the archives.
