Armrest Issue
After having the 70 C10 my grandson pulled one of the armrest off the door.
The bolt and washer appear to have pulled through the back of the pad. My first thought was it's a cheap reproduction armrest. Who makes a better quality armrest or one better than the original? I've advised him to crack open the window to close the door and not pull so hard. Of course he says he's not pulling hard. Any suggestions? Thanks |

Re: Armrest Issue
Fender Washers on the backside would help.
And the biggest washer allowed for the mounting screw would top it off. Besides having a plate made that matches the back side of the armrest this is my best suggestion. This could turn into an improvement thread. That plate would be simple to make. ![]() ![]()

Re: Armrest Issue
You’re likely right that it’s a low-quality repro. Brothers, LMC, and Classic Industries all offer replacements, but you might want to dig around for NOS parts or check forums for people recommending higher-end reproductions. Some aftermarket pads have reinforced backing, which might hold up better with repeated use

Re: Armrest Issue
I got my armrests from GMC Paul's. I don't think you could get them to pull through like that if you were trying. Hope this helps.

Re: Armrest Issue
Dashes Direct is typically good quality. I had a pair of those on my daily driver for several years and never had an issue. That was also several years ago, so the quality may have gotten lower on their products. I had a dash pad from them as well, and it was made just like the original, with metal insert.

Re: Armrest Issue
That looks like it came from Dashes Direct. They are located in Las Vegas and their quality is actually quite good. They also have a lifetime warranty. I would give them a call and see if they will replace that arm rest.
