Cant get the horn working late model steering wheel

Hello

I have a 68 C10 that I have installed a tilt column from a 72 C10. I have installed a late model wheel (see attached) and have followed this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c5JlQTeUJ4 however the horn does not work. Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Cant get the horn working late model steering wheel

Before you removed the old steering wheel did you try shorting point 2 to point 1, or when you were installing the new steering wheel did you short point 3 (the wire) to point 1? If you short those together the horn should sound and it is a good check to do before putting everything together. You need to know if the problem is internal to the steering wheel or if it is in the truck wiring, horn relay, canceling cam, or other areas. The guy making the video missed those tests. Right when he was pointing to point 2 he should have shorted it to point 1 using a screwdriver, pliers, or alligator clip test wire, to demonstrate he is beginning with a truck that has a working horn. Then later when he was handling the wire (3) he should have touched it to point 1 to demonstrate the horn still works. Then put the rest of it together. If you take the horn button off and disconnect the wire from the horn button, and touch the bare metal part of the connector on the wire to the center shaft of your steering column, does that make the horn sound?

The horn did work before but I did not test it. I need to do some work on the truck later tonight. When I do I will test it like your post says and report back here. Thanks for the info!
