I believe there are hard tonneau covers that go over the bedrails.

I got one for my 69 short step from an upholserer. It had a metal frame that carried the snaps. However, I did have to drill four holes through the rails. I epoxied around the holes, painted, then used stainless bolts and wing nuts. It looked good an came off easily.

Is this for your medium green shortstep? Gonna get one for your trailer, too? Would be a nice combination.

I have one by http://www.checkerpro.com/custom_classic.html , seems to work fine, I did havw to drill 4 holes in the aluminum frame and then use the stake pockets to hold it down. I would reccommend them and I think they carry short-wides in sock. I had to order mine and they charged $10 extra.....

This tread has always amazed me! The $ you can make off a nice
bed cover that rocks is stunning. The Checkmate beds are a prime example!
A bed cover on a 67-72 pick up is a great upgrade! Reasons are endless!
I was very close to driving my Chey to KNTY on a Sat. morning to get one on there! Checkmate is a good deal!
I like trying to build new ones with new hidges, with new materials.
The one I have now, is from a 98 Ram long box. I used the vinal and steel bars to come up with a sweet sheet that fits like a hard top but is soft man!
Cut and paste really! The frame is from hard wood ends and the metal ones down the sides with wood lone the bottom for the staples. Alot of staples on the inside holding the vinal.

If your rich get the gaylords or the Brothers ! $800.00

Keep em going!

I dont think it leaks, it has a gasket seal on the bottom of it. I have had water in my bed but I think it is due to only having 4 holes to hold it down and my bed rails not being in great condition.

She no leak. The worst part about some of them is the condensation
under the rails builds rust. Some I've tried you have to open them up in the sun after rain or wash or misty mornings.
