Door jamb rubber bumper holes question 68 vs 71-72

I am trying to figure out the purpose of all of the holes in the door.jamb of my 68 c20 custom camper. I've tore apart and restored a few 71-72s but they seem to be different.

First picture is the passenger door jamb of my 68 c20. Both driver and passenger have the exact same holes that appear to be factory. As far as I knew, the top #1 hole and #4 in the rocker are for the rubber bumpers.

When i tore this truck apart, number 3 hole had the dome light switches installed on each side. And I notice on the 68, it doesnt have the bump nj the front pillar for the switch like the later trucks ive been around.

What is the purpose of the #2 hole? Another bumper? And am i correct in the dome light switch placement? Thanks in advance!

I don't think our trucks ever came with with a door switch for the interior light

My 1972 Cheyenne Super has them, as does my 1970 Blazer with the CST option.

Although there was no bump out on the A pillar on my '67, I went ahead and installed some switches for the interior lights anyway.
They function perfectly and the slight side-loading doesn't seem to affect them.
I also ran the wires for the power windows through some solid loom and rubber grommets close to the same location.

Now wether or not the 68s ever had the dome light door switches or not. I have the holes, so probably just go back with them in the same spot.

Could have come with the CST option. wonder what the option code would have been without CST package.
