I cannot find the proper radio antenna

I have bought three different radio antennas and none of them have the correct angle. The antennas are kicked over at an angle. I know the hole in my cowl is the original hole, the antenna was on the truck since new. I had the truck apart and repainted and do not have the original antenna, but now I can't find one to fit it correctly. Anyone ever had this issue?

Re: I cannot find the proper radio antenna

I figured it out, throw the three $100 antennas away that I bought from online truck vendors. Buy a $15 universal antenna from Autozone, fits like a glove, perfect angle and works like a dream. Wish I would have done that 4 weeks and $300 ago.

Couldn’t be more timely! Yesterday the drag on my antenna from freeway speeds was enough to finally break the base material and the antenna just slipstreamed down and rested on my mirror brackets. I hadn’t even started looking for a replacement yet, so thanks for posting, sir!

Is this the one you bought? It’s the only one I saw that looks reasonable for our trucks…

Curious the brand on the antennas you have tried. While I have not installed yet, the mount on the Counterpart reproduction in hand (Classic Parts, $65) looks identical to the fixed mast piece removed and the NOS telescoping antenna I purchased many years ago.

Good to know. I saw that one too, but I wondered how it would look with the original hole on a sloped plane. The hole isn’t on a flat plane and the base didn’t appear to accommodate that situation, but I assume from your post that it looks good, not slanted to the side?

Re: I cannot find the proper radio antenna

This is the one that I bought
https://www.autozone.com/electrical-...nna/220687_0_0
It's a Metra P/N UASS38

I too support vendors on this site, that is where I bought my antennas that did not fit. It seems that these trucks have the holes in different places in the cowl. None of the ones I bought fit because there was too much angle on the base. The one from Autozone was the perfect angle. I know my hole was the factory hole, but I have noticed that some trucks have the hole in a different spot. The antennas I have will probably fit some trucks, but my hole is in a different spot. and I have noticed that many trucks have the hole right where mine is, but some dont. Anyway, the antennas from GMSPauls and such would not fit my truck.

Re: I cannot find the proper radio antenna

I use the telescoping ones for a 69 Camaro. The angle fits the C10 fender nicely too. I guess the General had a plan after all. hope this helps.
