Anyone know what plastic 72 door panels are made of?

I'm wanting to glue backing to my panels and im not sure what glue to use . Panels are oem. Knowing what plastic gm used to mold them would help me. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the originals but the repos are abs. I've had some luck using abs cement from the plumbing aisle on some panels in my Firebird.

If you put some scrapings in acetone and they start to soften then its abs (or rub some on the back and see if it affects the area.)

I think abs was around in 72 so it's possible the originals were made of it as well

Thinking possibly PP- polypropylene. ABS is a much harder plastic than the door panels. ABS would be used for something like the instrument bezel.

Google's AI says it was vacuum-formed ABS...

I think I'd try the spray contact cement. Try it on a piece of scrap material first and if it works, great. If not you're only out a few dollars.

IDK, I take car interiors apart quite a bit and the plastic seems flexible like the newer panels for which PP is primarily used. Attached a pic of the inside of my 72 panels. Can you see the PP? The aftermarket ABS panels are pretty hard plastic.
