Rear spring plates
Hi.
Have eventually got round to starting the rebuild of my 72 short bed. Have taken off the cross members to replace with non rusted CPP items. However, rear spring mounts seem to be a round tower for the first coil to wrap around. Are these factory? Every other I have seen just has a spring plate bolted to the frame. Can’t get images to load for some reason (security token?) Thanks Lee

Re: Rear spring plates
Make your pics smaller.
Then we’ll see what you need. |

I have never seen any brackets like that on a '67-'72 Chevy truck.... .

Re: Rear spring plates
Now that you have the pics working could you zoom out a bunch and take a few of the whole frame?

Re: Rear spring plates
Somebody homebuilt those retainers, and did a pretty fair job at it!

The stock springs are "closed" on both ends (picture 1) so they would have to be modified or purchase ones like in picture 2 to fit those. .

Re: Rear spring plates
Yeah, those are not factory but could be pretty useful. The way stock coils are mounted seems a little 'flimsy', so what you got there could add some stabilization.

Re: Rear spring plates
Thanks all. Much appreciated.
I’ll get it back to stock, but will hold onto them. Thanks Lee
