68 c10 tire size question.

My 68 is in pieces in my shop for floor repairs, rockers etc. I am hoping to mate it to the frame in the next few weeks. I need to order tires because the ones that it came with have dry rot. I will be using 15 x 8 rally wheels, and it will have a 4-6 drop most likely. What size looks good? Picture if possible. Thanks

Re: 68 c10 tire size question.

I have 275/60R15 rear and 235/70R15 front. Rear wheels are 10 inches, and fronts are 8. I had the 275 tires on the 8 inch wide rims up front, but I had some slight rubbing so I replaced them with narrower 235. It took me a while to find the right combo because I did a front disc conversion several years ago, which pushed the wheel face out a bit.

Here's a pic in better lighting. 2.5" dropped spindles front, 4" drop springs rear.

275/60R15 all around or do the 235/70R15 on the front. Tire shop gave me a hard time about mounting the 235/70 on 8 inch wheels because they needed to stretch a little to seat the bead...

Haha, thank you. I'm lucky to be in Southern California where it is relatively dry and don't have harsh winters.

Re: 68 c10 tire size question.

Your drop is a bit lower than mine (2.5/4) and I am running 255/70-15 on 8" rally wheels. Now that I have power steering, will probably go 275/60-15 next time.

Re: 68 c10 tire size question.

Late to the party but the info you want is in here https://www.gm.com/content/dam/compa...-Chevrolet.pdf

Your scroll wheel finger might get a bit tired but it tells what size tires were standard and optional on 68 trucks. Then unless you are spending the big money for bias tires you will have to put your decoder ring on to go from Bias numbers to radial sizes.

For tire size comparison I use this calcuator a lot and plug in two sizes and it shows the differences between the two but only works with radials.

This shows the differences between 275-60 15 and 255-50 15 The second one is the 235-70 15 vs 255-60 15 comparision

Re: 68 c10 tire size question.

Tremec has a cool app, "Tremec Tool Box". Driveline angle finder - Speed calculator - RPM calculator and Tire size calculator. Something else to help with fitment questions
