Brake booster support brackets...help

I am im the process of disk conversion for my 68 C10...i could use a little help with the installation of these brake booster brackets. A few pics would really be useful, do i need both of them? I am using a 72 set up with a brand new booster/MC/port.valve set up from Brothers. thanks

Re: Brake booster support brackets...help

Here are a few from before I pulled mine. First two are the same photo, just one highlighting where they are. Third one is a closer shot but I've highlighted where the upper end attaches. They don't show exactly where the upper one attaches to the firewall but I'm pretty sure it's right about where it is in the pics.
I'm sure I have others, would just have to do a bit of searching because I have somewhere between 8-9000 photos taken when pulling things apart.

Re: Brake booster support brackets...help

Is the firewall thatbflimsybto need both brackets? I get the one that supports under as the booster assembly does have some heft, but wasnt the side bracket overkill?

Has anyone seen the firewall area crack or anythi g from the weight?

Re: Brake booster support brackets...help

The one that is more tubular goes to the backside of the emergency brake bolt (69-72 style emergency brake actuator). If you have a 68 cab you won't have this bolt or the raised portion of the cab or even a hole for it, and in fact, the fuse block may or may not be in the way even if you were to try to put it there. I've seen lots of pictures of people adding the aftermarket power brake setups (usually the CPP ones) and have noticed that they don't run the brackets. I'd also be interested to know if they are really necessary.

Re: Brake booster support brackets...help

I did the ECE front disk conversion on my '68. No brackets. Until now, I didn't know there were brackets for the newer years.

Re: Brake booster support brackets...help

Does anyone know if a 69 C-10 is suppose to have one? My truck was manual brakes when I got it. I switched it to power disc using the CPP kit. If it does and someone can give me measurments for it I can make me one. Thanks

My red truck in the above photos is a 69 that had manual brakes from the factory. The power brake version must have had a booster support bracket because I think the stud you see was already on the firewall. Or if it wasn't, a hole was there and I pushed a bolt though it from the inside.

It's been 30 years, but I think there was another bracket that I got from a junkyard along with all the 71-72 power brake parts. But I don't know where it goes.

Re: Brake booster support brackets...help

I have been running my 68 for 21 years without the brackets. No problems what so ever. Have a good one eh.

Thanks. Any chance you could measure it for me? The stud at the firewall will be one of the parking brake pedal assembly studs.

Stud to stud is 12.5". Bracket has slotted holes at each end.
