76 Blazer

I just bought a blazer and was told by seller it is a 77. No vin plate but it had some badly damaged paperwork in the floor for a 77. the side molding is all black and i thought the 77 was yellow? can anyone tell by the pictures? It had low back buckets and center seatbelt console and the axles are dana 44 and 12 bolt (which is what I actually bought the Blazer for). What was the last year of the low backs and SB console? It also had this wood grain dash bezel in the back seat but not sure if it came on it or not. I am not well versed with the squares but feel like it should be a 76?

I am going to be listing a lot of it for sale soon but wanted to see about an answer on this 1st.

Thanks
Richard

Re: 76 Blazer

Correct. 77 was the only year for yellow in the side trim.

Re: 76 Blazer

See if you can find the partial VIN on the frame.

Should be 6F123456

Where 6 = model year
F = Flint assembly
123456 = serial portion of VIN

Or maybe C6F123456

C = Chevy

Re: 76 Blazer

The Rear axle in mine had a Mickey Mouse limited slip.

It had a little oil slinger clutch system.

I was driving home one day and heard something Click.

One of the Spider gear teeth hit the rear cover and put a small hole in the rearend cover.

Re: 76 Blazer

I was finally able to get the drivers door open and confirm it a 76. He told me the vin plate was missing (and it is) but it also has a sticker higher up that showed the build date of 05/76.

It has dual brakes apparently

Thanks for the replies
Richard

Re: 76 Blazer

Wow. You could read the VIN on the top of that frame and not even have to remove the body or mess with mirrors.

Re: 76 Blazer

I can hear the Flintstones song in my head when I seen that picture.
