Re: Power Boost to Hydroboost - 68 C10 on 2003 Escalade chassis

I'm not a brake guy or a hydroboost guy so maybe you won't give me credit, but here's my input:

1) Why would you have gone through all the trouble of the chassis swap, and all the trouble of swapping back from power-to-hydroboost.....not a super easy swap.....but you're not willing to swap MC's? Thats like sweeping the entire shop floor but being too lazy to scoop it with a dust pan into the garbage. That's nuts.
1b) I absolutely think that Escalade braking system--the entire original system--is meant to work with it's original MC and nothing else unless it is clearly stated. To run any other MC defeats any acknowledgements to the "brake systems" claims of efficiency or ability.

2) Most folks would suggest not combining rods like welding or stuff, maybe you could find an adjustable universal rod? Or maybe when you go back to the Escalade MC the original rod will work. Shouldn't be too hard to locate an OEM rod if you don't have it.

3)Yes, that's all geometry, so you need to know what depth the MC requires and compare that to the movement provided by the pedal at whatever position the rod mounts to it.
If your MC needs 2" of total travel and at the fulcrum point where your pedal accepts the rod, the pedals travel will only allow for 1.5" of MC piston movement, you are not taking advantage of full braking power which is dangerous.

From what I've read this is why folks typically swap pedal assemblies along with the rest of the braking system.

All valid points. Appreciate the feedback. I think I'm going to go with the correct MC and just bleed the brakes.

The only real issue I have at this point is connecting the rod to the 72 brake pedal.

I looked into it further and I'm just going to install everything as designed along with the brake pedal assembly off the Escalade. Easy peasy.
